PENRITH MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM CALLOUTS 2014
|63||30 Dec||10:50 Rescue. Female walker had slipped and injured her lower leg on the path down from Blea Water near Mardale. The Team stretchered her to an awaiting Air Ambulance. 10 Team members were involved for ~ 3 hours.|
16:00 Police asked the Team to recover a body from the River Eden near Lacy's Caves. A Swiftwater Rescue Team was deployed and unfortunately this turned out to be the missing person from the previous incident.

|61||17 Dec||17:47 Search for a missing 81 yr old male in the Little Salkeld area. 20 Penrith team members for ~5 hours along with 7 search dogs. COMRU also assisted.|
|60||14 Dec||13:35 Ambulance assist in woods near Leacett, Melkinthorpe. Team stood down as responding.|
14:44 Rescue. 37 yr old female had slipped on Knock Pike and injured her lower leg. The Team treated her on scene and stretchered her to a Team landrover. She was then driven to the nearest road and a waiting Ambulance.
11 Team members were involved for 2 hours. Kirkby Stephen were also assisted to assist.
|58||22 Nov||04:30 Search for 3 males, one suffering from hypothermia, lost between Mardale Head and Mosedale Cottage. They were located by the Team and taken to Mosedale Cottage to be re-warmed and given food. They were able to walk out with assistance to Swindale Head. 10 Penrith members and search dog 'Dottie'. Patterdale and Kendal also assisted plus 4 other search dogs.|
|57||2 Nov||11:26 Patterdale assist. A fell runner with a head injury. 9 Team members for 3 hours.|
01:00hrs Motorcyclist had fallen on a track between Dalston and Cummersdale. He was treated for a fractured femur and was given pain relief.
7 team members for 3 hrs.
|55||29 Oct||10:54hrs 20 year old male had fit. Team stood down whilst in transit. 6 Team members for 0.5 hour.|
|54||28 Oct||18:50hrs Patterdale assist, group of 11 teenagers in trouble on Place fell in appalling weather. 3 of the group were airlifted by RAF to Barrow for treatment for hypothermia. 12 Penrith members for 4 hours.|
|53||27 Oct||01:35hrs Patterdale assist, teenage male with hypothermia whilst camping in a group of six above Glencoyne. Atrocious weather and their tents had blown down. Nine Penrith team members involved for 4.5 hours.|
|52||5 Oct||Cockermouth assist. Search for a missing male in Wigton. Fourtunately, he turned up in Glasgow whilst the Team were getting ready to leave base, after returning early form helicopter training.|
|51||1 Oct||The Team was asked to search for a missing person at Kingmore Nature Reserve, Carlisle. We were stood down as we were mobilising.|
|50||27 Sept||The Team was called out at 0930 to search for an elderly lady who had been missing from her home since the early hours of the morning. Fortunately, she was found safe and well by the Team. 13 Team members were involved for 3 hours.|
|49||25 Sept||The Team was called out at 22:45 to search for a farmer who had not returned from moving sheep on Cross Fell, North Pennines, in poor weather. Fortunately, the farmer who had got lost, and had stayed where he was until the weather cleared when he was found by friends just as the Team was deploying to the hill. This saved the Team a potentially long and difficult search. 15 Team members were involved for 1 hour, along with 4 search dogs.|
|48||21 Sept||Whilst out on training with Kirkby Stephen MRT on a search exercise, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team was called out to assist the Ambulance service at Riggside Plantation to the North East of Brampton. A local elderly lady had sustained an ankle injury whilst out walking. She was treated at the scene before being stretchered a short distance to the awaiting ambulance. 12 team members were involved for 2 hours.|
|47||20 Sept||Sheep Rescue, A ewe and her lamb were rescued from an difficult spot above Riggindale, near Haweswater. 3 Team members were involved.|
|46||17 Sept||Call out to assist an 84 year old female walker had injured her lower leg on the Maiden Way near Kirkland (North Pennines). She was stretchered to a team landrover which transported her to an awaiting ambulance. The Team was assisted by Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team, and the Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance also attended. 11 MRT members were involved for 2 hours.|
The Team was called out to search for a missing 68 year old male following a car crash near Rockliffe. Person was found safe and well by a member of the public. 14 MRT members and 2 search dogs were involved for 3 hours.
|44||11 Sept||Rescue, a 72 yr old female had fainted near Gilsland - Hadrians Wall. Team stood down whilst responding.|
|43||4 Sept||Patterdale assist. Called out at 0005 hrs to search for a missing female walker. 8 team members involved for 6 hrs. Members stood down until morning. The female turned up safe and well at 0800hrs.|
|42||30 Aug||Patterdale assist. Grandson and Grandfather became separated near Angle Tarn. The Team were stood down whilst responding.|
|41||29 Aug||Kirkby Stephen MRT assist. Search for a missing Coast to Coast walker in the Pennines. 8 Team members for 6 hours|
|40||26 Aug||Ambulance assist, for a motorcyclist near Melmerby. team stood down whilst responding.|

|38||14 Aug||The Team was called out to assist a girl doing the Coast to Coast with her family when she sustained a lower leg injury. She was treated and stretchered off the fell. The Team was assisted by Patterdale MRT.|

|34||1 Aug||Single male walker who was lost on Cross Fell, he was located using Sarloc and talked off the fell. Apparently the route we suggested was boggy.|
|33||24 July||Male with dehydration.|
|32||13 July||The Team was called out to assist Patterdale MRT. A female on Hart Crag had a lower leg injury, the Air Ambulance picked up the casualty whilst the Team was responding. 7 Team members for 1.5 hours|
|31||11 July||The Team was called out to assist a mountain biker suffering from heat exhaustion. The team transported him 200m to air ambulance which then flew him to Carlisle Infirmary. 10 Team members for 1.5 hours.|
The Team was called to search for a solo female walker from the Netherlands who had become lost whilst doing the Coast to Coast. Members from Penrith, Patterdale and Kendal Mountain Rescue Teams searched numerous areas around Haweswater, Hayeswater and Kentmere Reservoir. An RAF Seaking was also tasked from Boulmer. Fortunately, the well prepared walker was located safe and well in the Measand Beck area of Haweswater. The Team escorted her off the fell and gave her a lift to a nearby campsite.
20 Members of Penrith MRT were involved for four hours (in total ~50 MRT members).
|29||6 July||As the Team was training at Mardale Head, an off-road motor cyclist came off his bike and asked for assistance. The Team treated the casualty and transported him to Penrith hospital.|
|28||1 July||The Police contacted the Team to search for a missing fell runner who suffered from diabetes. He turned up as the Team was being called out.|
|27||29 June.||Ambulance assist near Catlowdy (nr Scottish Border). The Air Ambulance evacuated the casualty as the Team arrived on scene. 8 Team members for 2 hours.|
The Team was called out to search for a missing 80 year old near Ainstable. Fortunately, she was found safe and well despite being out overnight.
In all 26 MRT members were involved from Penrith MRT, Kirkby Stephen MRT and the Lakes Search Dogs.
|25||22 June||We were called out to assist Patterdale MRT. A mountain biker had dislocated a shoulder near Sticks Pass. He was airlifted to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle whilst we were on route.7 members for 50mins.|
|24||15 June||Whilst the previous incident was taking place, the Team was asked to search for a missing person in the Caldbeck area.|
|23||15 June||Search for a missing competitor on the '3 Rings of Shap' competition. Turned up safe and well whilst the Team was being deployed.|
|22||31 May||Whilst completing the previous Keswick assist, Keswick MRT was called out again, and the Penrith members present assisted Keswick in the recovery of a casualty near Seathwaite. 4 Penrith MRT - total 5 hours for both callouts.|
|21||31 May||The Team was asked to assist Keswick MRT in the recovery of the body of a missing walker found near Browncove Crags Helvellyn. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. 4 Penrith MRT members.|
|20||22 May||The Team was called out to a walker who was complaining of debilitating back pain after descending Crossfell on the Garrigill side. NWAAS also attended along with 9 Penrith MRT members, duration 1.5 hours.|
The Team was called out to assist Patterdale MRT with a casualty on High Dodd with a lower leg injury. Fortunately the air ambulance was able to evacuate the casualty.
4 Team members for 30mins.
The Team was called out to assist Keswick MRT in a search for a missing walker. Unfortunately his body was found in the region of Piers Gill.
6 Team members for 4.5 hours.
|17||12 May||The Team was called out to search for a missing person in the Kings Meaburn area. Fortunately he turned up safe and well. Eighteen Team members for 2.5 hours and Kirkby Stephen were in transit.|
The Team was called out for a 75yr old female with a suspected broken ankle. The incident happened between Mosedale Cottage and Swindale Head.
The casualty was airlifted by an RAF Seaking. 11 Penrith members and 10 Kirkby Stephen for 3.5 hours.
|15||28 April||Wasdale Assist, swift water technicians only. Stood down when getting kit ready.|
The Team assist a group of very wet and cold mountain bikers showing signs of hypothermia and unable to return to their vehicles. Some were given a lift to the Haweswater Hotel and some a lift back to their vehicles.
3 Team members for 3 hours.
|13||29 Mar||The Team was called out to assist Keswick MRT in a search for a missing walker near Blencathra. Unfortunately, his body was discovered below Sharp Edge. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.8 Team members were involved for 6 hours.|
|12||27 Mar||Patterdale Assist. 84yr old male feeling faint near Auterstone Crag. Casualty was stretchered to the awaiting Helimed and transferred to CIC.3 team members for 2hrs.|
The Team was asked to assist Wasdale MRT, in searching for a missing walker.
Unfortunately, his body was found later in the day.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends. 3 Teams members were involved for 9 hours.
|10||5 Mar||As the Team was finishing the AGM, it was called out to search the Cliburn area for an elderly woman who was missing. Fortunately she turned up safe and well. 21 Team members and 5 search dogs were involved for 3 hours.|
A walker had slipped near Small Water below Nan Bield Pass. He had fractured/dislocated his lower leg. The Team stretchered the casualty down to the waiting Air Ambulance at Mardale Head.
12 members of the Team were involved for 5.5 hours.
A walker had injured their knee near Swindale Head.
4 Team members for 3 hours.

|6||6 Feb||68 yr old male was lost on Cross Fell, having set out from Blencarn. He turned up at Cow Green as the Team was mobilising.|

Whilst on winter training in Scotland, the Team assisted Lochaber MRT in searching for a missing walker in the Ring of Steall region. Unfortunately his body was found the next day. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
14 Team members were involved for 5 hours.
Injured mountain biker, with suspected head injuries, in steep woods near Wetheral. The Team evacuated the casualty to the Air Ambulance.
13 Team members involved for 3 hours.
Regrettably, recovering the body of the missing person from the previous incident.
11 Team members for 4.5 hours.
Search for a 57 yr old female in the Castle Carrock area.
16 Team members and 8 search dogs for 3.5 hours.
