Better Base
Here at Penrith Mountain Rescue we are launching our BIGGEST campaign ever!
'Better Base' project will build a new base for the team. The new base will provide a modern, fit-for-purpose facility for our team to operate from. The new base will be located in the heart of Penrith, providing easy access to all corners of our patch and neighbouring teams, allowing the team to respond quickly to all incidents.
The new base will be a two-storey building on the Gilwilly Industrial Estate in Penrith where Penrith Mountain Rescue team will be based. The ground floor will house the team’s vehicles and equipment, as well as a training room and storage space. The first floor will provide office space, a kitchen, and a rest area for team members. The new base will also have a secure yard for storing equipment and vehicles.'

Our current base, located in Penrith, has served us well for many years. However, as the demands on our team have grown, it has become clear that our existing facilities are no longer fit for purpose. The new base will provide us with the space and resources we need to continue our vital work in the years to come.

Why are you building a new base?
Our current base is outdated and no longer meets the needs of our team. The new base will provide modern facilities, improved training areas, and better support for our rescue operations. A better base is about better security for our vehicles and equipment, better sustainability with energy and water efficiency and access considerations for the future, and better space, not only more space, but also more useful spaces for the team.
When will the new base be ready?
We are aiming to have the new base operational by late 2029. This timeline is subject to change based on fundraising and our ability to raise the necessary funds, construction progress and any unforeseen delays.
How can I support The Better Base project?
