Team Winter Training 8-9th February 2025 Northern Cairngorms The Team encountered fine, cold weather and a firm snowpack higher up on their winter training weekend in the northern Cairngorms. Saturday was spent refreshing and practising individual skills, including movement on steep frozen ground and creating and utilising snow belays. On Sunday team members headed out on a longer mountain day which included avalanche training and rescue scenarios. Use of transceivers was covered, as well as traditional probes, for searching following an avalanche. A big shout out to Carly and Jane from the Friends of Penrith MRT for the amazing catering, and to Cranstons Butcher + Maker for supplying pies and sausages.
